A Day in the Life of a Summer Market Trader

If you’ve ever stopped by my stall and wondered what goes on behind the scenes before everything is beautifully displayed… here’s a little look into a typical market day with Fox & Fauna.

Market days always start early (and yes, coffee is essential). The van gets loaded up with rails, tables, jewellery, clothing and plenty of boxes, then it’s off to whichever market I’m trading at that day.

When I arrive, it’s time to turn an empty pitch into the little boutique you’ve all come to know. Everything has its place, and I love taking the time to style the stall so it feels inviting to browse. It’s definitely a workout, but seeing it all come together makes the early start worth it.

Once the market opens, that’s when the best part begins.

One of my favourite things about running Fox & Fauna is meeting so many lovely people. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or you’re one of my regulars who pops by to see what’s new, I genuinely love having a chat and helping you find something you’ll feel amazing in.

Some days are busy from start to finish, others are a little slower, but every market is different—and that’s what I love about it. There’s always someone looking for the perfect outfit for a holiday, a gift for a friend, or a little treat for themselves.

By the end of the day, everything gets packed back into the van (usually a little less neatly than it came out!), and it’s time to head home. But the day doesn’t quite finish there. Stock needs updating, online orders are packed, messages are replied to, and before I know it, I’m getting ready to do it all again.

Running a small business definitely isn’t a 9–5, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Whether you’ve shopped with me online, visited me at a market, shared one of my posts or simply said hello, thank you. Every order and every conversation means more than you probably realise, and I’m so grateful that you’ve chosen to support Fox & Fauna.
