The Fabrics Behind Our Products — Why Material Choice Matters

At Fox & Fauna, we don’t manufacture the fabrics ourselves — instead, we carefully select products made from materials that meet our standards for comfort, durability, and feel. Fabric composition is one of the biggest factors in how a piece wears, washes, and lasts over time.

Rather than chasing trends, we look at what the fabric actually does: how it performs in daily use, how it feels against the skin, and how well it holds up. Here’s a simple, honest guide to the most common fabrics you’ll see across our collections — and why they earn their place.

Polyester ✨

Polyester is one of the most widely used modern fibers, and high-quality polyester performs exceptionally well in everyday products.

Why we’re happy to stock it:

  • Holds its shape well

  • Resists wrinkles and creasing

  • Dries quickly after washing

  • Keeps colour vibrancy

  • Very durable with repeated wear

When a polyester-based product meets our feel and finish standards, it’s often a strong choice for long-term use and low-maintenance care.

Viscose 👗

Viscose (also known as rayon) is a plant-based fiber known for its softness and elegant drape. It’s often used in garments designed to move and flow.

Why it stands out in selected pieces:

  • Silky-soft touch

  • Lightweight and breathable

  • Drapes beautifully

  • Comfortable against the skin

  • Takes colour and print well

We often choose viscose items when feel and movement are key to the overall look.

Cotton 👚

Cotton remains one of the most trusted and loved natural fibers. It’s familiar, breathable, and versatile.

Why cotton products stay in demand:

  • Naturally breathable

  • Soft and skin-friendly

  • Comfortable year-round

  • Strong and dependable

  • Straightforward to wash and wear

When we find cotton products with good structure and finish, they make dependable wardrobe staples.

Elastane 👖

Elastane (also called spandex or Lycra) is usually blended into other fabrics in small amounts — but that small percentage makes a noticeable difference.

Why it improves product performance:

  • Adds comfortable stretch

  • Improves fit and flexibility

  • Helps garments keep their shape

  • Increases ease of movement

When we see a well-balanced stretch blend, it’s often a sign the product will be more comfortable to wear.

Wool 🧶

Wool is one of nature’s best performance fibers. Different types of wool offer different textures — from structured to ultra-soft.

Why quality wool products stand out:

  • Excellent temperature regulation

  • Naturally moisture managing

  • Durable and resilient

  • Odor resistant

  • Available in soft varieties like merino

When sourced and finished well, wool products combine practicality with premium feel.

Rather than focusing on a single “perfect” fiber, we focus on the overall performance and feel of the finished product.
